IIV. OTHER ACTIVITIES

1. From November, 1997 to August, 2002; working as a consultant for the DDC/AUC (Desert Development Center / the American University in Cairo) in the fields of:

· Production and improvement of flowers and ornamental plants for research as well as training purposes.

· Development of desert biodiesel plants especially Jojoba and Jatropha, establishment and production of five years project for planting and evaluation of both plants. Work included selection of high yield jojoba strains.

· Making programmes of environmental garden designs for arid regions.

· Development of Cactus varieties available in Egypt including their propagation as well as nomenclature.

· Developing agricultural techniques for the commercial production of cut greens such as: Aspidistra , Sansevieria , Philodendron , Papyrus , Zamioculcas and Ruscus.

2. Cut flower expert in The Agricultural Technology Utilization and Transfer (ATUT), one of the

US-Aid programmes in cooperation with the Ministry of Agriculture and Land Reclamation from

November, 1998 till the end of June 2002.

3. RONCO consultant of cut flower production for export from October 2001 to the end of June 2002.

· Working through RONCO or ATUT projects included full technical supervision for all the Egyptian cut flower projects allover Egypt, promotion of exports, developing packing materials and advanced post harvest techniques, developing field conditions, greenhouse structures suitable to the Egyptian conditions as well as making the fertigation programmes suitable for each crop and each farm.

4. Consultant of cut flower production and export for many Egyptian projects since Oct. 2002:

5. Consultant of Bissar Farms/ Violette Group (60 feddans) in Alexandria from September 1987 to September 2002. Including full supervision in the fields of the production of:

· Greenhouse cut Roses.

· Indoor foliage plants and flowering pot plants.

· Cut tulips, lilies, gladiolus, and many other ornamental bulbs.

· Propagation of different ornamental plants under mist.

· Fitting different feeding programmes as well as pesticides programmes for ornamental plants either indoors or outdoors.

· Working as representative for some companies in Holland working in Egypt including: Anton Verbeek Rozen b.v. (Rose Growers) and Konijnenburg and Mark b.v. (Bulb Growers).

· Feasibility studies of agricultural projects.

· Production of Carnation cut flowers in open field or under plastic houses.

· Production of Anthurium cut flowers under controlled conditions.

· Designing many gardens in Egypt: modern style as well as traditional Egyptian.

6. Organized and participated in different training courses and conferences in the same field:

· 15th. International Meeting of EUCARPIA: Modern methods in the breeding and multiplication of ornamentals, Berlin, 5-9 September 1988.

· Training course of Nurserymen Technical Guidance. Alexandria, from 31/5/1997 to 26/6/1997.

· Several training courses through Mubarak National Project for the owners of the newly reclaimed lands in the Egyptian deserts from November 1997 to August 2002 in cooperation between the Ministry of Agriculture (Egypt) and the DDC/AUC (USA).

· The Future of Producing and Exporting Flowers in Egypt, Part І. A conference held at Alexandria University in September 17, 1997 in cooperation with the growers of flowers in Egypt.

· The Future of Producing and Exporting Flowers in Egypt, Part ІІ. A conference held at Alexandria University in March 2, 2002 in cooperation with The Ministry of Agriculture as well as the different cut flower growers in Egypt.

· Jojoba as a new crop for arid lands. A conference held at Alexandria University in March 7, 2004 in cooperation with The Egyptian Company of Natural oils.

· Training course about Jojoba culture in the new reclaimed lands of Sinai, organized by the Cooperative Development and Training Project for Settlers in New Land, International Labour Organization, Egypt . Held in the Desert Development Center, The American University in Cairo.

· Committee determinant for the "New flowering Ornamental plants and there Use in Garden Design & Beautification of Alexandria City" with cooperation of Leading Florists, Violette Flowers and Bisar farms.

· Organized and Instructed a Training course in Ornamental Horticulture and Environmental Landscape Gardening, Kuala Lumpur , Malaysia from the 7th to the 12th of April ,2007 organized by the International Center for Administration ,Development and Studies , United Arab Emirates.

7. Member of the Tempus project: Echanges Expériences Bologne Fac. Sciences du Vivant EG since

Feb. 2006 to Feb. 2007. The project adopted the restructuring of the education system of the

faculties of Agriculture belonging to seven Egyptian universities under the umbrella of Bologna

Process.
